Editorial Advisory Board

Dr. Eliot Battle Jr. is founding partner of Cultura Cosmetic Medical Spa, a medical practice merging dermatology, laser surgery, plastic surgery, and spa therapy. He also is an assistant clinical professor in the department of dermatology at Howard University, Washington. Dr. Battle joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2008. He did not report having any conflicts of interest.

 

 

Dr. Leslie S. Baumann is chief executive officer of the Baumann Cosmetic and Research Institute in Miami Beach. She founded the cosmetic dermatology center at the University of Miami in 1997. Dr. Baumann wrote the textbook "Cosmetic Dermatology: Principles and Practice" (Columbus, Ohio: McGraw-Hill, April 2002), and a book for consumers, "The Skin Type Solution" (London: Bantam, 2006). She has contributed to the Cosmeceutical Critique column in Skin & Allergy News since January 2001 and joined the Skin & Allergy News editorial advisory board in 2004. Dr. Baumann has received funding for clinical grants from Allergan, Aveeno, Avon Products, Galderma, Mary Kay, Medicis Pharmaceuticals, Neutrogena, Philosophy, Stiefel, Topix Pharmaceuticals, and Unilever.



    

Dr. Jeffrey Benabio is a partner physician in the department of dermatology of the Southern California Permanente Group in San Diego and a Volunteer Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of California, San Diego. He has published numerous scientific articles and is a member and fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, and a member of the Telemedicine Association and the American Medical Association, among others. He is board certified in dermatology as well as medicine and surgery in the state of California. Dr. Benabio has a special interest in the uses of social media for education and building dermatology practice. He is the founder of The Derm Blog, an educational Web site which has had over 2 million unique visitors. Dr. Benabio is also a founding member and the skin care expert for Livestrong.com, a health and wellness Web site of Lance Armstrong’s the Livestrong Foundation. Dr. Benabio is @Dermdoc on Twitter.

Dr. David E. Cohen is the director of allergic, occupational, and environmental dermatology and the chief of the allergy section/contact dermatitis in New York University Medical Center's department of dermatology. He recently served as president of the American Contact Dermatitis Society. Dr. Cohen joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2005. He has served as a speaker and/or consultant for Abbott, Amgen, Cutanea Life Sciences, Galderma, Janus Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, Peplin, Stiefel, Triax Pharmaceuticals, and Wyeth (Pfizer).


Dr. Suzanne M. Connolly is a consultant in the department of dermatology at the Mayo Clinic in Scottsdale, Ariz., and past chair and an associate professor at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine. She is the president of the American Contact Dermatitis Society and is the 2010 vice president–elect of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Connolly joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2004. She reported having no conflicts of interest.

 

 


Dr. Richard G. Glogau
is clinical professor of dermatology at the University of California in San Francisco and a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, the American Dermatological Association, and the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery. He developed the Glogau Photoaging Classification scale and is the author of four medical textbooks. Dr. Glogau joined the Skin & Allergy News editorial advisory board in 1993. He disclosed serving as a consultant to Allergan, Medicis, Revance Therapeutics, FibroGen, Gerson Lehrman Group, and MEDACorp. He serves on the advisory board of Neutrogena, and is a clinical investigator for Allergan, Fibrogen, Contura, Medicis, and Revance.

Dr. Neil S. Goldberg is in private practice in Westchester County, N.Y. He is a former associate professor of dermatology at New York Medical College, Valhalla, and coordinator of residency training. Dr. Goldberg joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 1993. He reported having no conflicts of interest.

 

 





Dr. Alice B. Gottlieb
is the chair of dermatology at Tufts Medical Center, Boston, and is the hospital's dermatologist in chief. She is board certified in dermatology, rheumatology, and internal medicine, and is a member of the American Dermatological Association and Noah Worcester Dermatological Society. Dr. Gottlieb joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2008. She disclosed relationships with Abbott, Actelion, Amgen, Anesiva, Centocor, Celgene, Bristol-Meyers Squibb, Beiersdorf, Cytokine PharmaSciences, DermiPsor, Immune Control, Incyte, Magen BioSciences, Novo Nordisk, PureTech Ventures, Roche, Sankyo Daiichi, Teva Pharmaceuticals, UCB, and Wyeth (Pfizer).

Dr. Adelaide A. Hebert is a professor in the departments of dermatology and pediatrics at the University of Texas Medical School at Houston. She has served on three American Academy of Dermatology boards, and as a president of the Society for Pediatric Dermatology. She joined the Skin & Allergy News editorial advisory board in 2000. Dr. Hebert has received research support from Allergan, Amgen, Astellas, Barrier Therapeutics, Galderma, GlaxoSmithKline, Graceway Pharmaceuticals, Johnson & Johnson, PharmaDerm, Promius Pharma, Stiefel, and Taro Pharmaceutical.

Dr. Brooke Ashley-Ann Jackson is an assistant clinical professor at Northwestern University's department of dermatology in Chicago. Dr. Jackson is a fellow of the American College of Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Cutaneous Oncology, the American Academy of Dermatology, and the American Society for Lasers in Medicine and Surgery. She joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2004.

 


Dr. Ronald P. Rapini is the Josey Professor and Chairman of Dermatology at the University of Texas Medical School and M. D. Anderson Cancer Center, Houston. Dr. Rapini is the author of the textbook "Practical Dermatopathology" (St. Louis: Mosby, 2005), and the coauthor of the textbook, "Dermatology" (Mosby, 2003). He joined the Skin & Allergy News editorial advisory board in 2000. He has received author royalties from Elsevier.



Dr. Randall K. Roenigk
is the Robert H. Kieckhefer Professor of dermatology at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minn. Dr. Roenigk also is president of the American Board of Dermatology, and a coauthor of several textbooks, including "Roenigk's Dermatologic Surgery: Current Techniques in Procedural Dermatology" (London: Informa HealthCare, 2006). He joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2000. He reported having no conflicts of interest.


Dr. Roberta D. Sengelmann practices in St. Louis and Santa Barbara, Calif. Dr. Sengelmann has served on the board of directors for the American College of Mohs Surgery. She is also a coauthor of the textbook "Surgery of the Skin" (St. Louis: Mosby, 2005). Dr. Sengelmann joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2005. She disclosed being a Solta Medical stockholder, and serving on the advisory board of Allergan, BioForm Medical, and Coapt (she has also received research support from Coapt).



Dr. Robert A. Weiss is an associate professor in the department of dermatology at Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore, and the director of the Maryland Laser, Skin, and Vein Institute in Hunt Valley, Md. He is a past president of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery. Dr. Weiss is the coauthor of "Sclerotherapy and Vein Treatment: Second Edition" (New York: McGraw-Hill, 2010). He joined the editorial advisory board of Skin & Allergy News in 2005. He reported having no conflicts of interest.
